Further, instruments are dried using the lint-free cloth and individual instruments are inspected before sterilisation. The instruments are fully covered and kept for disinfection followed by removal of disinfectant with water. The following steps help to understand the complete sterilisation process in the appropriate manner. Firstly, collect the equipments required for sterilisation that are steriliser, packages (paper/laminate materials), sterilization trays (metal or plastic tray with holes), permanent marker, clean tongs, indicator tape, recording and monitoring books. Pre-clean and dry all the used items Put the instruments in the sterilising tray followed by packing the content so that they are clearly visible through the laminate side. Ensure that sharp instrument tips are protected to stop damage to packaging. The waiting time between packaging and sterilisation should be kept minimum to avoid contamination. Label the packages with the permanent market before sterilisation with identification name or code and date. Try to record these label in monitoring books as well for tracking faults in sterilisation process. Seal the packages with indicator tape across its width overlapping on each side[5]. Loading steam steriliser Ensure that air is completely removed from chamber without blocking the air vents Further, keep instruments in a proper manner that steam is surely able to reach and saturate all surfaces for sterilisation. Assure that all the condensation is completely drained away The instruments must not stick out of the tray and even not touch the chamber walls. For record keeping and monitoring an operating manual, commissioning data copy and a log of the ongoing process, maintenance and calibration should be kept while performing sterilisation[6]. 3.Case study -3 Maintenance of steriliser For getting a good quality performance of a steam steriliser it is essential to provide regular maintenance programme that ensures proper functionality. William Shakespeare'S Othello The Hamartias of Othello In William Shakespeare's tragedy Othello, the hero, Othello, is plagued by his many hamartias. Termed by Aristotle around 330 B.C., hamartia is a tragic hero's ?error or transgression or his flaw or weakness of character.? (p.1296) Othello's hamartias include jealousy, a blind, unrealistic love for Desdemona, trusting others too easily, and his unrealized ability to deceive himself. These flaws, along with the help of Iago, cause Othello to loose everything he has including his life. At first look at Othello, he shows no signs of jealousy and even entrusts his wife to Iago saying, ?To his conveyance I assign my wife.? (1.3.286) Othello also the great self control that is expected from someone who has been a warrior since he was seven years old as mentioned by, ?for since these arms of mind has seven years pith ? they have used their dearest action in the tented field.?(1.3.83-85) Iago begins to break down this self-control by talking of jealousy: IAGO. O, beware, my lord, of jealousy. It is the green-eyed monster which doth mock The meat it feeds on. (3.3.178-179) Although the play shows no indication of physical aggression by Othello, one can assume from the following speech there is some physical confrontation between Othello, and Iago: OTHELLO. Villain, be sure thou prove my love a whore! Be sure of it. Give me the ocular proof, Or, by the worth of mine external soul, Thou hadst been better have been born a dog Than answer my waked wrath! (3.3.375-379) Others also notice Othello's jealous loss of self-control. In Act III Scene V Othello goes do Desdemona to demand she show him a handkerchief he gave to her. When she cannot produce the handkerchief Othello gets furious and storms out of the room. After his exit, Emilia says, ?Is not this man jealous Othello, being a military man, sees himself as a man who judges by the fact. He believes only what he sees, or what his most trusted ensign, Iago, reports to him. Having Iago report the goings on between Desdemona and Cassio makes it even easier for Iago to poison Othello's mind with thoughts of jealousy. Even though Iago hinted to Othello about Desdemona's infidelity, Othello still thought himself a man who was not to be self-deceived: OTHELLO. I'll see before I doubt; when I doubt, prove; And on the proof, there is no more but this ? Away at once with love or jealousy. (3.3.204-206) This is, of course, ironic because as Othello later finds out, it is not easy to make a choice between love and jealousy. Othello being the kind of leader who judges by facts tells Iago to ?Give me the ocular proof,? (3.3.376) of his wife's infidelity. Othello has another Hamartia in that he has a blind, unrealistic love for his wife, Desdemona. He is a man who loved excessively but ?loved not wisely (5.2.554). Throughout the play Othello professes his love to Desdemona. One such event is when Othello says, ?O my soul's joy! / If after every tempest come such calms.? (2.1.177-178) This passage shows that Othello is pleased and calmed by his wife and his love for his wife. Just a few lines later Othello exults, ?If it were now to die, / ?Twere now to be most happy (2.1.182-183) showing that if he were to die now his soul would be happy. Then again in Act III Scene III, obviously the most important scene in the play, Othello lets Desdemona know that ?I will deny thee nothing.? (3.3.91) By this Othello is letting Desdemona know that there is nothing he wouldn't do for her. Being such a becalmed man due to his marriage to Desdemona, Othello, in the garden of the citadel, yells to Desdemona from a distance: OTHELLO. Excellent wretch! Perdition catch my soul But I do love thee! And when I love thee not, Chaos is come again. (3.3.98-100) This passage gives some foreshadowing because chaos does come again into Othello's life. At the end of the play when Othello does kill Desdemona, and he learns the truth about her, he says, ?I kissed thee ere I killed the. No way but this, / Killing myself, to die upon a kiss.? (5.2.369-370) He shows everyone that he truly did love his wife even

Mercantilism and Its Effect on Colonial America In general, mercantilism is the belief in the idea that a nations wealth can be increased by the control of trade: expanding exports and limiting imports. In the context of the European colonization of North America, mercantilism refers to the idea that colonies existed for the benefit of the Mother Country. In other words, the British saw the American colonists as tenants who paid rent by providing materials for Britain to use. According to the beliefs at the time, the wealth of the world was fixed. To increase a countrys wealth, leaders needed to either explore and expand or conquer wealth through conquest. Colonizing America meant that Britain greatly increased its base of wealth. To keep the profits, Britain tried to keep a greater number of exports than imports. The most important thing for Britain to do, under the theory of mercantilism, was keep its money and not trade with other countries to get necessary items. The colonists role was to provide many of these items to the British.   However, mercantilism was not the only idea of how nations built wealth at the time of the American colonies search for independence, and most acutely as they sought solid and equitable economic foundations for the new American state. Adam Smith and The Wealth of Nations The idea of a fixed amount of wealth existing in the world was the target of Scottish philosopher Adam Smith (1723–1790), in his 1776 treatise, The  Wealth of Nations. Smith argued that the wealth of a nation is not determined by how much money it holds, and he argued that the use of tariffs to halt international trade resulted in less- not more- wealth. Instead, if governments allowed individuals to act in their own self interest, producing and purchasing goods as they wished, the resulting open markets and competition would lead to more wealth for all. As he said,   Every individual†¦ neither intends to promote the public interest, nor knows how much he is promoting it†¦ he intends only his own security; and by directing that industry in such a manner as its produce may be of the greatest value, he intends only his own gain, and he is in this, as in many other cases, led by an invisible hand to promote an end which was no part of his intention. Smith argued that the main roles of government were to provide for common defense, punish criminal acts, protect civil rights, and provide for universal education. This along with a solid currency and free markets would mean that individuals acting in their own interest would make profits, thereby enriching the nation as a whole.   Smith and the Founding Fathers Smiths work had a profound effect on the American founding fathers and the nascent nations economic system. Instead of founding America on the idea of mercantilism and creating a culture of high tariffs to protect local interests, many key leaders including James Madison (1751–1836) and Alexander Hamilton (1755–1804) espoused the ideas of free trade and limited government intervention. In fact, in Hamiltons Report on Manufacturers, he espoused a number of theories first stated by Smith. Capital Punishment Should we kill killers is the question to answer regarding the controversial subject of capital punishment. There is strong support for both sides and many people have offered their opinions in writing for all of us to examine. John M. Olin, the Professor of Jurisprudence and Public Policy at Fordham University, gave us his Pro-Capital Punishment opinion in the Harvard Law Review in 1986. Although his article was written more than a decade ago the argued topics have not changed. In his work The Ultimate Punishment: A Defense Mr. Olin addresses why he feels capital punishment is necessary in our society and across the world. According to Olin retribution is the number one reason for capital punishment. He goes on to say that the retributive notion of punishment in general is that as a foundational matter of justice, criminals deserve punishment and punishment should be equal to the harm done. What counts as â€Å"punishment equal to harm†? Olin refers to lex talionis commonly known as â€Å"an eye for an eye†. This idea was drawn from the Babylonian Law of Hammurabi from the 18th century. It states: If a builder builds a house for someone, and does not construct it properly, and the house which he built falls in and kills its owner, then that builder shall be put to death. If it kills the son of the owner, then the son of that builder shall be put to death. Besides being totally absurd there are a couple of points to make. First, retribu tion cannot be uniformly applied to every harm committed. What about rapist? Should they be raped? What about those who commit mass murder? How can we make their punishment proportional? The answer is we can not. Killing one person who killed another serves no practical... ...ntly, especially if death is involved, then we need to stop, back up and say â€Å"what is going on here?† Criminals no doubt deserve to be punished, and punished with severity appropriate to the harm they have caused to the innocent. But severity of punishment has its limits, both by justice and basic human dignity. Too many studies have shown that a lengthy sentence of 20 to 30 years of a murderer has been proven to be sufficient. After this period of time most individuals have proven to be constructive, worthy members of society and have lived prosperous lives after being released. I do however; recognize the fact that many individuals should stay in prison for the rest of their lives for the safety of all as well as retribution. For a Nation that is supposed to be founded on Christian morals and beliefs I have to wonder how they justify much of what they do.
